After years working as a teacher, business manager,
and office manager, Marti put the skills she'd gained as an employee
to use by opening her own business called WordCrafters, a firm specializing
in business copywriting, sales and marketing materials, and website
development. In 1999, one of Marti�s first steps as a fledgling consultant
was to join and become actively involved in the Bolingbrook Chamber.� �It�s the single most significant thing I�ve
done to make my business grow,� she says.�
Marti is currently the Chamber's president as well as its webmaster,
has been a Chamber Ambassador, and has either chaired or served on
several committees..� In 2005, she won the Chamber's Best of Bolingbrook
Businesses Award in the Service � Business to Business category.

Marti is also a director on the board of the Bolingbrook
Kiwanis Club, and is an award-winning Toastmaster where she holds
the distinction of Advanced Toastmaster-Bronze.�
For years she has served the community as an amateur radio
(�ham�) radio operator, with a special interest in emergency communications.� She has been active in the Bolingbrook Amateur Radio Society since
1988 in numerous capacities, in the Chicago Area SkyWarn Association
as a Severe Weather Spotter and Net Control Operator, and has served
as Assistant Will County Emergency Coordinator.

Marti�s life has taken her from her home state of
Ohio to Michigan, Kentucky, Washington state, and Germany before settling
in Bolingbrook in 1987, where she met her husband Keith in 1989.� Together they have four grown children.
