From the Chairman of the BoardI was born and raised in Downers Grove, and at that time I only knew of Bolingbrook because it was on my way to see friends in Romeoville and because of the many times I visited the Old Chicago complex. When I informed my mother 19 years ago that I was moving my family from Naperville to Bolingbrook, her response was, “Why?” Circumstances and perceptions have changed, and Bolingbrook is now a destination city. Our businesses are maintaining and growing. Our population has grown, and we’ve gone from one restaurant to dining options of any type you want. My kids think I am so “connected” because I know what is going on in Bolingbrook: what new stores and businesses are opening, what’s coming next. When I go to the store, I always see someone I know and spend some time talking with them, because they are friends. Why is this? Because I have become involved in the Bolingbrook Chamber. Since I became a member in 1994, I have seen people join the Chamber and say it didn’t help them. Well, that is because they didn’t take the simple time to do simple things like come to the luncheons and meet and speak to people. Through my own involvement, I have come to this conclusion: you get out of the Chamber what you put in. I always default to using Bolingbrook businesses and I look for Chamber members first. It started when I met “Windy”, the former owner of a local transmission shop. From that day on, he was the person I sent business to. Before he passed away he said I had referred over $100,000 in business to him, all because we happened to sit at a Chamber luncheon together. When my furnace or air conditioning unit goes out, I’ll be calling DuAll Heating & Cooling. When my house needs painting, I’ll contact New Life Painting & Decorating. And so on…. Get involved by talking and handing out business cards. Those cards go in pockets and are pulled out when needed. Don’t be a ghost member. The Chamber is the best bang for your buck that you’ll ever spend on your business – and as your chairman, I will do my best to help the Chamber make sure of that. It is a honor and pleasure to serve you in that role. Best Wishes, George Primm, Chairman of the Board Chamber email: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
